I was watching the first episode of Lanterns when John Stewart’s watch caught my eye.
It’s a black Casio G-Shock, and the model is the G-SHOCK G-SQUAD GBA-900-1A.
John Stewart is played by Aaron Pierre, and I spotted the watch around 00:41:16 in Episode 1, “Pilot.”
John Stewart Wearing the G-Shock GBA-900
You don’t get a big watch close-up in the scene, but the GBA-900 is pretty recognizable.
It has that chunky black G-Shock case, an analog-digital face and a distinctive perforated resin strap.
Here’s the GBA-900-1A for comparison.
The GBA-900 is part of Casio’s sport-focused G-SQUAD range. The case measures 51.3 × 48.9 × 16.6 mm, so it’s a fairly large watch, but it weighs only 61 grams.
It’s shock resistant, water resistant to 200 meters and has Bluetooth connectivity for activity tracking. It still uses a regular analog-digital display rather than a full smartwatch screen.
GBA-900-1A vs. GBA-900-1AER
One small thing worth knowing if you’re searching for the same watch.
You’ll see it listed as both GBA-900-1A and GBA-900-1AER. The GBA-900-1AER is the reference commonly used for the European-market version.
So if you came here after spotting John Stewart’s watch in Lanterns, that’s the one to look for: Casio G-Shock G-SQUAD GBA-900-1A.
I’ll keep an eye on his wrist as the season continues.
